Impressions ALS/MND Science Day 2025

The annual Science Day of the German MND-NET took place – two days full of exciting research presentations on motor neuron diseases (ALS and SMA), from molecular genetics and biomarker discovery to the first publication of clinical study results or new etiological hypotheses on the influence of viral infections for MND.
For the first time, there was also a MND-NET trial site workshop to strengthen networking and training among study nurses and study sites.
A big thank you to all representatives of the MND-NET sites, as well as to friends and colleagues from France, Sweden, Belgium and the USA, to all speakers, including Prof. Michael Benatar (Walter Bradley Chair for ALS Research, University of Miami) for his highly stimulating keynote speech on the prodromal phase of ALS, to the entire audience for the lively discussion, our industrial partners who supported the event, and, last but not least, to all the patients who support our work!

Impressions ALS/MND Science Day 2024

On October 17th and 18th 2024, the annual German ALS/MND Science Day took place in Frankfurt.
We were happy to welcome more than 60 clinicians and scientists from Germany, France, Switzerland and Turkey.
The scientific sessions focused on basic science, as well as translational and clinical aspects of ALS and other motoneuron diseases.
One highlight was the keynote lecture of Prof. Dr. A. Chió on “Disentangling ALS Heterogeneity: Where are we now?”

Dear colleagues,
Dear ALS/MND-Net partners,

We are pleased to continue the German ALS/MND Science Day and cordially invite you to this year‘s symposium in Frankfurt. The meeting will provide a platform for young clinicians/scientists presenting their data on basic science and translational approaches. A special moment will be the keynote speech given by Prof. Dr. A. Chiò, which will take place on Thursday evening after the symposium dinner. On Friday, the scientific program will end with a session aiming at providing an outlook into disease understanding and therapeutic approaches of the future.

We are looking forward to welcome you in Frankfurt and wish you a pleasant meeting.

ALS Network Symposium Berlin

On April 18^th and 19^th 2024, the annual German ALS network symposium took place in Berlin. This symposium has been established in 2022 and comprises all partners of the German ALS/MND Network (MND-NET) and the Ambulanzpartner-Network.

Workshops on ALS phenotypes, genetic studies, Biomarker (surrogate marker) development, healthcare research, and clinical trials lead to intensive discussions between all partners and fostered joint projects.

We were able to welcome two representatives of the German patient association (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Muskelkranke) who brought the patients’ view and needs to our meeting.

Dear colleagues,

Dear MND-Net partners,

we cordially invite you to a science day to promote scientific exchange in the field of ALS and motor neuron diseases. At a time when new therapeutic approaches are well advanced in clinical development, genetic factors, biomarkers and personalised therapy approaches are increasingly coming into focus. The symposium will start with keynote speaker Prof. Dr. Merit Cudkowicz, followed by scientific sessions on topics ranging from basic to translational research presented by young clinical scientists.

Prior to the public part of the ALS/MND Science Day, our biannual internal MND network meeting will take place ( on 12 October from 12:00 to 18:00).
